Platschek kommentiert
Monica Bonvicini on Hans Platschek
Though most well known as a painter and art critic, what truly exemplifies Hans Platschek was a human always in motion. From his childhood emigration to Uruguay to a whole life lived across continents, from Munich to Rome to London to Tangier to Hamburg, his vocation was not solely art, but to commune with other artists, thinkers and political revolutionaries. This desire to bring together the creative and the challenging meant the curiosity of his mind extended far beyond the studio and the university, into the life blood itself of the cities where he lived. It is a legacy which lives on in the Hans Platschek prize to this day.
