geduldigste Modell ist. Ich hatte eine b\u00f6se Geschichte, ich war drei Monate im Krankenhaus und hinterher habe ich diese Bilder gemalt: mit Kr\u00fccke und mit Narbe. Nun hat man mir immer gesagt, der arme Mensch, der war krank und ist alt. Und da habe ich gesagt, als n\u00e4chstes male ich Selbstbildnis mit abgeschnittenem Ohr. M\u00e4rtyrer haben beim B\u00fcrgertum bessere Chancen als Kurzwarenh\u00e4ndler.<\/p>\n<p>Auf dem Koppelschlo\u00df der SS stand w\u00e4hrend des Krieges \u201eUnsere Ehre hei\u00dft Treue\u201c. Da ich etwas gegen Krieg und Koppelschl\u00f6sser habe, suche ich meine Ehre in der Untreue. Kunst soll laut Grundgesetz frei sein. Wenn man das w\u00f6rtlich versteht, mu\u00df man jede Freiheit in Beschlag nehmen und alles probieren, wonach einem der Sinn steht. In den Sechzigern schrieb ich einmal, heute k\u00f6nne man keine Stilleben mehr malen. Seit Jahr und Tag male ich sogenannte Stilleben. Wie sagte Brecht? Paradoxerweise (hier tats\u00e4chlich paradoxerweise) kann man sagen, da\u00df er das tut, nachdem er Weisen des Zutrauens, die er fr\u00fcher gehabt hat, fallen lassen mu\u00dfte. Als er anfing zu malen, in der Epoche des Tachismus oder Informel, hatte er dreierlei Zutrauen: Zutrauen zum Material, zum Betrachter und zu sich selbst. Er traute, wie andere,<br \/>\ndem Material der Bildherstellung zu, da\u00df es von sich aus etwas herausgeben, \u00f6ffnen k\u00f6nne. Er traute der Phantasie und dem Mitsehen des Betrachters zu, da\u00df er das Bild aus dem Malvorgang herauslesen k\u00f6nne. Und er hatte sich selbst die F\u00e4higkeit zugetraut, gleichsam im unbewu\u00dften Flu\u00df ins Bild \u00fcbergehen zu k\u00f6nnen, eins zu werden mit den Veranstaltungen, die, die malende Hand auf dem Bild bewirkte. Da\u00df das zu einer zugleich<br \/>\nverchl\u00fcsselten und \u00e4sthetisierenden Bildform f\u00fchren w\u00fcrde, hat Hans P1atschek in einer langj\u00e4hrigen Erfahrungszeit feststellen m\u00fcssen.<\/p>\n<p>Die erste Gegenantwort, die er Ende der sechziger Jahre im Bild zu formulieren suchte, bestand in monumentaler Entleerung und scharfer, die Grenze des Humors \u00fcberschreitender Kritik. Und nachdem man sich gew\u00f6hnt hatte, ihn ins Fach Informel einzuordnen, wurde er nun allzu rasch in das des kritischen Realismus getan. Aber dabei blieb er nicht.<\/p>\n<p>Die Interieurs und die Portr\u00e4ts zum Beispiel, die er in den siebziger Jahren gemalt hat, sind realistisch nur, insofern sie einen erkennbaren Gegenstand zeigen, kritisch allein in ihrer Ideologieferne. Ich habe die Stichw\u00f6rter genannt, unter denen ich seine Aquarelle, als den vorerst letzten H\u00f6hepunkt seines Werkes zu sehen, zu verstehen vermag. Unter denen ich das versuche.
